DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis Stands In Solidarity With the AAPI Community, Condemns the Killings in Georgia, and Denounces Rising Violence, Racism and Misogyny
Statement from Michelle Deatrick, Founder and Chair of the DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council and Pete Lee, Director of AAPI Engagement, DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council
“Our Council stands shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, and in complete solidarity with Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and against the racist, misogynist, and hateful attacks that occurred in the Atlanta area.
“The horrific murders in Georgia were not an isolated incident. They are part of a disturbing and disgusting pattern of harassment and violence against Asian Americans and women that has long existed in this country and that has been on the rise for over a year now. We all have a responsibility to speak out. Silence only breeds more hate and violence.
“Today and everyday, we stand with the AAPI community, and encourage everyone to use their voices to speak out against these attacks and against the widespread systemic racism, sexism and misogyny that engendered them.”
