We are already seeing the impact climate change is having on our environment, and Michigan is far from immune. As extreme weather events become stronger and more frequent, Michigan continues to see record high Great Lakes water levels and flooding throughout the state. Our waters are thawing earlier and freezing later - Lake Superior is now one of the fastest-warming lakes in the world - and the rising temperatures are affecting aquatic life as well. This process is being accelerated by corporate polluter emissions, overwhelmingly located in Michigan communities of color already suffering the effects of environmental racism.
