DNC Climate Chair Statement: Another Debate, Another Example That Climate Is On The Ballot This Year

The following statement is from Michelle Deatrick, Founder and Chair of the DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council, following the Vice Presidential Debate:

“Another debate, another striking reminder that climate is on the ballot this year. Once again, the Biden campaign, through Kamala Harris’ strong answers, showed that only one campaign is committed to addressing the climate crisis as the grave threat that it is.

“By contrast, Mike Pence refused to call the climate crisis an existential threat--and he attacked the scientists and other Americans calling attention to the crisis as “climate alarmists.” Both Donald Trump and Mike Pence deny science, fact and reality. But the truth is clear: the climate crisis is not coming, it is here. And Donald Trump and Mike Pence have made the crisis exponentially worse.

“Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, like Joe Biden last week, showed that they will make tackling the climate crisis a priority once they are elected. The choice between the campaigns on climate could not be more stark.”
