DNC Council on Environment and Climate Crisis Responds to President Biden’s Budget

Statement of Michelle Deatrick, Chair of the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis:

“We applaud President Biden for putting out a bold budget that meets the moment when it comes to addressing the climate crisis.

“Specifically, the President’s budget invests $4 billion in infrastructure for clean, safe water; slashes fossil fuel subsidies; provides nearly $4 billion for parks and green space; saves working families money on energy and water with tax credits for weatherizing, solar tax credits, efficient and clean energy appliances; cleans up toxic sites; promotes environmental justice; and more than doubles the EPA budget for Superfund clean up.

“The climate crisis does not care if you are a Democrat or Republican. It does not care if you live in a red state or blue state. It impacts all of us, everywhere. This budget acknowledges that reality. Congress should do its job and implement these vital priorities without delay.

“This budget is the exact kind of leadership we need right now. The climate crisis is not coming, it is here now. And we all must double down on our efforts to combat it. The President made that crystal clear in his budget.”
