DNC Council On Environment And Climate Crisis Runs Largest Ever Midterm Effort To Get Out Environmental Vote
The DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis is in the final stretch of its largest ever midterm election push. The campaign has focused on turning out the environmental vote for Democrats up and down the ballot in multiple battleground states.
In the last few months, the Council has held more than 20 organizing events in key states including Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, California, Alaska and New Mexico.
In addition, in recent weeks, the Council has organized phone banks, GOTV canvases, outreach events and amplified Democrats’ historic achievements when it comes to fighting the climate crisis.
In the final stretch over the next two weeks, the Council is coordinating and supporting a coalition of 17 state Democratic Party environmental caucuses in get out the vote and organizing efforts.
Michelle Deatrick, Chair of the Council, issued the following statement on the Council’s election efforts:
“If Republicans win control of Congress it will mean climate deniers will be in positions of great power. It will mean multiple committee chairmen and women who are on the bankroll of the oil companies. It will mean the very worst of the anti-science, anti-worker, anti-women, anti-LGBTQ+ people in Congress deciding our national and state policies, doing what they do best: deny, delay, and disrupt the progress we are making — and the much greater progress we need to push to make — toward a renewable, sustainable, equitable future. And it all paves the path for a return of Donald Trump. So we are working overtime to get out the vote and ensure a Democratic victory.”
