DNC Council On Environment And Climate Crisis Applauds President Biden For Using State Of The Union Address To Continue To Rally The Nation To Fight Climate Change
Statement from Michelle Deatrick, Chair of the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis, on President Biden’s State of the Union address:
“Candidate Joe Biden ran for president as a climate champion. Last night, President Joe Biden once again showed that he is a climate champion.
“We are grateful that he used the platform of the State of the Union to call on Congress, and the nation, to take the urgent steps needed to fight the climate crisis. From the moment he stepped in the Oval Office, President Biden has made fighting climate change a priority. But he can’t do it alone. He needs Congress to act. Last night he made that crystal clear.
“The climate crisis is not coming. It is here now. The UN IPCC report this week underscored the undeniable reality of how dire the situation is. We can’t afford to wait any longer for the bold solutions that are needed. President Biden understands this. He made it clear to the nation last night in his speech.
“Last night showed once again that we have a climate champion in the White House. And, now more than ever the world needs that.”
