DNC Climate Council Statement on Bernie Sanders’ Decision to Suspend His Campaign

In response to the news that Bernie Sanders has suspended his campaign for the Democratic nomination, the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis released the following statement:

“Bernie Sanders is a climate champion. He made the climate crisis, and protecting our environment in general, a centerpiece of his campaign. Nearly every day, he publicly reminded the world and our country that this is an urgent crisis that must be immediately addressed with bold and aggressive policies.

“His voice on the campaign trail will be greatly missed. But as Bernie Sanders himself said, while the campaign is ending, the movement will continue. That is a good thing for the Democratic Party and the nation as a whole.

“We will now focus our attention on working with Joe Biden’s campaign to ensure the Democratic Party Platform this summer includes bold solutions to address the climate crisis.”
