Biden Already Had A Mandate For Action On Climate, Now He Has A Congress To Act On It
The following statement is from Michelle Deatrick, Founder and Chair of the DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council:
“Voters had already handed President-elect Biden a clear mandate to act on climate. Now Georgia has handed him a Senate to join him in this historic fight.
“What happened last night in Georgia is nothing short of a game changer. With Democratic control of the White House and Congress, President-elect Biden can now advance his bold, ambitious climate agenda and reverse the devastating damage of the last four years.
“The climate crisis is not coming. It is here now. President-elect Biden and the Administration he is building understand this and are ready to act. And now, thanks to the amazing work of so many on the ground in Georgia, the path to sensible and needed solutions to this crisis just got a lot easier. Senators-elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are strong climate champions who will work tirelessly for a future of green, sustainable energy and environmental justice in the Senate.
“Today is not only a good day for Democrats, it is a great day for our planet.”
