DNC Council On Environment And Climate Crisis To Host Youth Roundtable On Saturday
On Saturday, with the midterms looming, the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis, will host an hour long youth roundtable titled, “The Climate Generation Unites.”
The roundtable will discuss the history and trajectory of the youth climate movement, the Democratic Party's role as the Climate Party, and the importance of the youth vote to winning at all levels in the midterms.
Speakers include national spokesperson for Sunrise Movement John Paul Mejia, Minnesota Community Organizer Patty O'Keefe, Founder of Indigenous Earth Protectors Alex Golden-Wolf, Juliana vs. United States Youth Plaintiff Isaac V., DNC Climate Council Youth Director Paul Presendieu and DNC Climate Council Chair Michelle Deatrick will moderate.
Andre Treiber, Chair, DNC Youth Council and other environmental and Democratic youth leaders will help lead the online chat during the event.
The event is being co-hosted by the DNC Youth Council, Young Democrats of America Environmental Caucus, California Young Democrats, California Democratic Environmental Caucus and the Environment and Climate Caucus of the Washington State Democratic Party.
This is the first in a series of organizing events the DNC Environmental Council will host in the lead-up to the 2022 midterms.
“When Democrats run on climate, we win,” said DNC Climate Council Chair Michelle Deatrick. “The climate crisis is not coming, it is here now. And we need to take action and to organize with the urgency this moment demands. Democrats are the Climate Party and we are going to make sure voters understand that come November.”
