Climate Polling from Data for Progress: When Democrats Run on Climate, Democrats Win

The climate crisis is here, now — and climate will be on the ballot in every upcoming election. At the DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council’s Fall Meeting in St. Louis, Data for Progress Executive Director Danielle Deiseroth presented new polling on climate voting.

Some key takeaways:

  • Climate change is a top priority for Democratic voters

  • Democratic voters, young voters, and Black and Latino voters are optimistic that society can meaningfully address climate change — a signal that the IRA’s historic climate and clean energy investments are breaking through to voters most concerned about climate action

  • The overwhelming popularity of the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) major components means candidates should not be afraid to champion the bill and its impact on their community
